I tried these on in the store and I was pretty happy with the fit and function.  I wear a size 10 and the medium were spot on with size.  The elastic at the top was strong enough to keep them in place but didn't feel like they would cut off the blood supply. 

They have a zipper and velcro on the side. 

I would add these to my gear if I was planning a trip where extended wet conditions were likely.
